Small, local place with a soul. We were the only foreigners that night. Enjoyed a lot Italian character of the place. Nice service and great food, too. As Osteria, not sophisticated, but as for the type, great. Started with a plate of local meat (salami, prosciutto, sausage, and cheeses, including permesan and some localities). For the 2nd course, we took pasta: local Tuscany pomodoro&bacon plus cheese&pepper. Sound simple, they are, but the more we ate, the more we enjoyed them. And despite huge portions, we ate them all! This is how good it was. Great vino de la casa (red), too. Very friendly and caring service. Will come back for sure.

What a perfect little cozy restaurant tucked away in this beautiful city! We had read about this place in a Rick Steves guidebook and decided to try it out, we were not disappointed. There is no menu. You walk into the restaurant and at the counter they have an assortment of veggies, meats, cheeses, etc. You can point to what you want if you don't know much Italian and they will prepare the meal and bring it to your table. We ate outside under the arches and it was such a lovely setting. The food was so great! What an affordable price as well! A whole meal for 2 adults and wine was less than 16 euro!

This is a small little restaurant in Siena. They didn't have a ton of options, but when we were there one of the options was some kind of pasta with bacon and it was SO delicious. This was the best pasta dish I had on our whole trip to Italy. I really don't even know what it was, but it was so so good! This place felt very authentic and it was mostly locals there. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in Siena! Wish we could go back!

You really need to either know some Italian to eat here or be comfortable with pointing to what you want. The choices are a "cold" plate which consists of various sausages/cheeses and salads right in front of you (making the pointing part easy) or hot dishes of the day. The day we enjoyed lunch here there were two different toppings you could choose from for the homemade Pici (think very thick spaghetti noodles). We tried one plate of each and were not disappointed. The cost for 2, with cover, bottle water and wine= $20- Euro
