This is a dinky little place with not much glamour, but don't let that fool you. The ambiance is reminiscent of many old style restaurants in Hawaii. Plus, dress Hawaiian casual if you wish. The food is very good and the portion is spot on. The prices are right on. The fare is typical of Hawaiian food in the mainland, but nothing beyond that. However, what's offered will satisfy your palate. I had the "Smoked Salmon Omelet" today. It was a little too salty for my taste, but I ate it all. Naturally if you want the true Hawaiian experience, you gotta have rice with the omelet. I think you will be happy you tried this place.

For those of you who crave Hawaiian-style "local" food, Rutt's is the place to go. Even the venue is relaxed, no dress code needed here. Food is ono, and the seasoning is quite on par with what you might find at Hawaii drive-ins. Usually crowded, but worth the wait.

I will be honest here. Lol after walking in to this establishment, I wanted to leave. It was a little hole in the wall but the staff was extremely friendly. So I decided to give it a try. I ordered Hawaiian French bread, bacon and loaded hash browns. The food was delicious. After eating here I left feeling like a local and not a tourist.

A few weeks back my wife and I were watching Diners, Drive In and Dives where they featured Rutt's with a cameo appearance by Simmins of KISS fame. They featured the Royal which is meat, with options for veggies or rice and lots of other ingrediants. If you ask for little or no oil and the Atkins version you can have a very healthy, great tasting breakfast, lunch or brunch that doesn't cost very much. I know I will regret saying this but, it is our new weekend brunch destination but don't tell anyone.
