We went to Som for Xmas day dinner and the place looked like a lot of effort had been made to decorate it in festive style. We were amazed that it wasn't busier considering the quality of the food and friendliness of Som the owner. We used to eat there before the beach got flattened and the standards are still high. Free pick up from Laguna was a big plus so we could have a drink. Ended up having virtually the same meal that we had at Tony's but for much less! They also have a place on the beach during the day just down from the big pooh bear that is more beach snack orientated.

We last visited this restaurant in 2014, when it was still beachfront and, initially, were disappointed to hear that it had been forced to move from there ... Until we visited the new premises! Som offers simple Thai fare, cooked exceptionally well and served with a smile. Prices are great value (we were 1000thb, about £20, for a family of 3, including drinks), but this is not a reflection of inferior quality food, service or setting, all of which suited us so well we visited again on the last night of our 6 night stay. Having eaten out every night, generally in much more "upmarket" and expensive restaurants, this is the only one we visited twice. Som will arrange a driver to pick you up and drop off, which is a great advantage over some of the other restaurants in the area. It takes approx 10 minutes from the Outrigger to Som (NB the driver is not very chatty, but this does not reflect the service in Som itself). Please take the time to visit Som if you like simple food, cooked fresh to order and great value for money - if we don't keep supporting restaurants like Som, they will end up out of business and all we will be left with are the over-priced, anonymous, tourist traps.
Came here twice in our five day stay at Laguna Holiday Club Resort. Loved the food here. It wasn't too salty like some of the other Thai restaurants we tried near the area, and the owner, Som, is a lovely lady. The free pick-up service is a great bonus. We tried walking here, but it took a very long time. Wouldn't recommend it. Use the pick-up service!
Called the restaurant for reservations....they picked us up from the hotel in a pick up truck with seats in the back. My grandkids sat inside and we sat at the back....I guess you can say it was part of the adventure. It was a bit of a drive ...at one point I was doubting if I called the correct restaurant. Once we arrived our table was ready (we called ahead) and looked thru the menu....wide selection of food. My daughter loved the green mango salad, the beef salad was tasty with a little kick. I had the Tom Yum Kung...it was spot on! My husband wanted to order the lobster but they said they ran out and took a plate of fresh tiger prawns for my husband to choose from. Now that is top service. Ordered the prawns wrapped in noodles and fried...very fresh and crunchy..yum! We had to finish our dinner early because my little grandson woke up from his sleep and started crying...they moved one of the fans towards us to cool him down...but no luck. They shuttled us back to our hotel. Definitely a place to go back to before the end of trip!
