Had Akayu Karamiso Ramen (830 yen). Very hearty and distinctive soup broth - just right magnitude of spiciness. Noodle was thick and hearty, although a bit too soft. Restaurant seems lively and in good atmosphere as local people eat here. Interior decor is nostalgic in Showa era, but that's actually an advantage for a local regional ramen like this. About 10 minutes walk from JR Yamagata Shinkansen Akayu train station. Also, easy to get to from National Highway 13, and in relatively close distance from Fukushima, Yonezawa and Yamagata cities.
