We had lunch here at the advise of our guide. Good tip. The food was simple but good. Compared to most of the nonsense restaurants around the square, this is a very good choice. It not refined, but is does not claim to be so. The risotto was course, the lamb good and the wine was fine. A good place to rest your feet and enjoy reasonable food, without the scare of bankruptcy.

Siena is fantastic and can be overwhelming. The main Piazza del Campo is spectacular but all the restaurants in the square are full of tourists paying a lot of money. We decided to eat just off the main square in a little side street. This Osteria had a very simple menu and 4 of us had a lovely lunch - ravioli (with spinach and ricotta), salad, bruschetta and an antipasti board. This was a light lunch as we were going to a wedding in the town hall and on to a massive evening meal later. The bill for 4 was 86 Euro including cover charge, a litre of house wine, a couple of beers and coffees - great value!
