If you are within 100kms of this restaurant go there! Ambrosia springs to mind. I couldn’t believe there was only 1 other review of this restaurant in English when I first wanted to go here. This is the holy grail of Giant river prawns or even Giant Jumbo fresh water river prawns. Over all the food is very good here and reasonably well priced, even the giant prawns which might sound expensive but after you try them the money slips into insignificance. The price list is shown in my photos but I have an experience to tell. 1 kilo of prawn is listed at different prices but please remember that the bigger the prawn the more head butter you get so I opted for 2 prawns weighting in at 1 kilo and yes that is 2.2 pounds, again see the photos. Tiger prawns are babys compared to these monsters but the taste cannot be compared as I’ve always found tiger prawns to be chewy. For the 2 prawn option which is the most expensive they are priced at 1800 Baht, 36 pounds sterling or about 58 US dollars. Forget the money as the meat has the most delightful light prawn taste that will simply melt in your mouth and as for the head butter it is nothing less than heaven on earth, try google ing Ayutthaya river prawns or indeed you tube them and you will be surprised. Both my partner and I walked away salivating after the meal, they are indeed special and a wonderful treat. Service was excellent and a very busy establishment, top class. Well off the main road it is well sign posted and sits on the river bank with nice views and very large catfish lurking in the surrounding water, a place many Thais visit. I never have had a gastronomical experience to match this!
