We went for a birthday dinner at their Pelawatta branch. We had our dinner in their upstairs dinning area. When I enter to restaurant I saw lot of people were in ground floor. I guess many of them were for take away orders. The environment was in ground floor not that great. But upstairs dining area was really good. They have done a small decoration for our birthday dinner. Our self and only one another couple were their in dining area. There service was good. They helped us to make our birthday dinner special. Food came into table in a quite reasonable time. They had only two parking slots but were able to utilize nearby HSBC bank parking. Food was spicy. But felt it was close to authentic. We tried out thai omelette, sea food salad, mushroom with cashew nuts, prawn with thai basil, phad thai sea food, thai basil fried rice, few juices, hot buttered cuttle fish and mushroom, spicy chicken soup …etc. All were good. No complain. But rice’s were not hot. That was the only complain. We tried sticky trice with mange and coconut cream. I felt that also good and much closer to what I took in Thailand. Their portions are small and sufficient for two people. They didn’t charge service charge from us. We paid VAT in addition to total bill cost.

Tom yum soup is to die for. We had green curry chicken, mango salad, hot buttered mushrooms all on jasmin rice. It was an absolutely amazing experience for the palette. Service was a little slow, but they make it up with the food. This is the place in front of Isuru Paya.

TL;DR — The Som Tam was solid, but the language barrier and the lack of desire to actually please a customer made me hate this place. I order a green papaya salad and a chicken basil dish. Before ordering the chicken, I pull up an image of Drunken Noodles, which have a broad flat noodle. I ask if it comes with these noodles, and the waiter says yes. Great. He comes back with both dishes [even though I\d asked for food to be brought out when ready] and the chicken has no noodles — even though I had shown him a picture and he confirmed that it came with that kind of noodles. I ask if he can go add noodles. He comes back and suggests I get the Pad Thai, but that\s not what I want. Long story short: he /finally/ understand that I just want to add noodles to my dish, but then a second guy comes back and gives me the same runaround, until he says that they can\t add noodles because the chef refused. So I go down and talk to the chef, and she says she can\t add noodles to that dish because it\s not on the menu. I\m allergic to nonsense and refuse to support it, so my prior threats of leaving were realized when the chef looked at me with her smug, mocking smile and told me she wouldn\t do it. Absolutely absurd, as Pad Ki Mao is a staple in Thailand. Can\t recommend. I understand Som Tam to be a better spot, and apparently Royal Thai is excellent. Gonna look there next time.
