This is actually one of Cairo\s very few restaurants dedicated to red meat, steakhouses if you wish, and it\s probably the oldest. The owner is Tarek Shariff, the son of the late actor Omar Shariff, he also owns the Maison de Thomas pizzeria chain. There are two fundamental problems with the restaurant: 1. The "authentic ambiance" is a pathetic excuse to get away with incredibly cheap decor and furniture, taken right out of a traditional Koshari parlor where a meal for 4 can be had for less than a quarter of their cheapest entree, provides a very uncomfortable, unrelaxing and unclean dining experience. 2. The menu is EXTREMELY limited. There are no salads to speak of besides the complimentary and disgusting leaf salad (I think you can order the same with canned tuna or chicken for extra but that\s it), side orders are also equally non-existent. The steak sauces are terrible and only 3 are on offer. I still forgive all when the meat is good which unfortunately isn\t the case over half the time. The quality is incredibly inconsistent, day to day and cut to cut. You almost always get variations in the temperature within the very same dish! I cannot even remember the last time I ordered a whole Chateaubriand that was cooked consistently end to end! People who were complaining it was expensive have more reason to complain now they have started a new weight based menu in December 2015 that kept dish prices the same but for 2/3rds of the old potions by weight, while the original portions are now 35% more. It is still my favorite steakhouse, however. Not because it\s good, but because there are no real alternatives in Cairo for meat lovers like myself, at least none that I know of.
