My husband and I visited Bella mid-afternoon on the day of our anniversary. We had just returned to Cairo after a cruise on the Nile and did not have a reservation. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were impressed by the warmth of the staff and the elegant yet unpretentious environment and the beautiful view of the Nile. The menu is exceptional: beautifully prepared and healthy Italian fare with an extraordinary presentation. We ordered the LE240 price fixe luncheon, which included an appetizer, entree and dessert as well as delectable pizza (in lieu of bread). Our eggplant appetizer was worth a repeat visit alone--only to be matched by the delicately-prepared sole with an incredible melange of local vegetables and a delectable pistachio-merangue desert. The meal alone would have been great but there was more: shortly after asking our server to take a picture because it was our anniversary, a staff member prepared a special rose-petal flower arrangement for our table; at dessert time the staff presented us with a personalized "Happy Anniversary" dessert (amazing tiramisu); and as we were leaving, they gave me a bouquet of a dozen red roses with tulips and my husband a special cake. We are still reeling from such an experience of warmth and hospitality--extraordinary even in a culture that is warm and hospitable.
