Popped into the Rusty Rabbit on passing for a quick coffee. I was not prepared for the delicious coffee and cake we were served. I would not hesitate to recommend this coffee shop. The coffee for all three of us was full and rich and each of our slices were perfect, gluten free and delicious. The service was welcoming, attentive, discrete and speedy. A very nice interlude.

This relatively new eatery in Darlinghurst occupies the spot previously occupied by the business that infamously refused to hire a barista due to his skin colour. Gratifyingly, that business failed shortly afterwards and it has now been replaced by this great new venue. The business is operated by (I think) 3 brothers and offers great coffee, clever modern Australian food and a relaxed style of service. My partners had corn fritters and salmon and I had green, eggs and ham - both of which were very good. The décor is eclectic and fun, making the most of the historic convict hewn sandstone walls and some large windows overlooking the street. I visited on the weekend and they have given it a further makeover with some cool but comfortable new chairs and handmade concrete tables. Small area for improvement? The corn fritters could have been a little thinner or cooked through and my ham was a bit too processed. However, these are minor issues This is a great place for a lazy brunch on a Saturday or Sunday.
