Located next to the Capitol theatre, we chose this restaurant as it had two trip advisor awards for excellence, " now looking at other comments, not sure how they earned the awards. The service was very average. The meals not worth the price. We had to wait a while to be seated even though we were the only one\s waiting. The time it took to place our order was good. We ordered prawn stuff rice paper rolls & Chicken satay sticks for entree & a seafood dish for main. As we waited to be served, we ordered water, served in a small glass. During our meal we had to ask several times for more water on two other occasions as the waitress kept for getting. Whilst waiting for our entree we notice a group of 3 who entered & ordered well after us received their entrees, a group of 4 besides us who ordered before us was still waiting for their entree well after we received ours. A large group behind us was complaining & getting angry as some on the table had their mains & finished, offers still waiting for there\s. The prawn stuffed rice paper rolls arrived, they were fried with the prawn tail hanging out, they looked good & tasted nice but not what we were expecting. 4 for about $15 Then came the Chicken satay sticks. A tenderloin on a skewer with satay sauce, 4 for $16.80, The chicken was dry with a very average satay sauce. I can cook these much better, disappointed. The seafood dish, $24.80 was nice but extremely hot, I love chilli but love to taste the food, this was a little to hot. They need to lift there game & not rely on paste awards, maybe they have new chef\s & staff.

We opted for this restaurant based on all of the "excellent" Trip Advisor stickers (and others) on the front door. Also, they had a large menu posted out on the sidewalk. We both saw things we wanted on that menu. We decided to go in and were handed "Theater Menus". The item my wife wanted was not on the menu, but the Pad Thai I wanted was. After what seemed like 10 minutes and nobody to discuss the menu with, we decided to just leave and stood up. All of a sudden, a lady that seemed like the manager decided to ask us what we wanted. We told her, the menu that they had outside the restaurant. OK. We got different menus (albeit still not the one from outside). My wife found what she wanted and we ordered. We were also given small glasses of water, but unlike the rest of the tables, no water pitcher. Weird. Why do some tables get a water pitcher while others do not? Out food came out about 5 minutes apart. Minus one star. OK, so they presentation was decent and the taste was OK. My Pad Thai had no spices added from what I could tell. We asked for a "spicy tray" and were given a container of dried red pepper flakes. OK, not what we were thinking, but maybe this is a language/terminology barrier. The peppers helped. But, they mad the food hot! (Duh!). So, we ran out of water. After waiting at least 10 minutes for a water refill, the manager stopped by and said something unintelligible. I asked for water, which she brought a pitcher and refilled our small glasses. Five minutes later, my water was gone. Staff was busy setting tables, walking by our table with water pitchers (really), and generally ignoring us. Minus another star. Is this cultural? Is this how Australia does it? Somebody throw me a friggin bone here. Trying to understand the lack of service. All in all, the food WAS serviceable. What earlier posters said about charging for a spoonful of rice is also correct. We won\t be back this decade.

My very first one star review, but this terrible place deserves it! We went the suki smorgasbord which was around $25 a head. You choose from a very limited range of meats and vegetables and cook it up your self at your table. There was supposed to be fried rice and chicken wings, but after around forty minutes none had appeared where the empty trays remained. I asked one of the waitresses, her abrupt and rude response was "go back to your table and wait" Our table was near the entrance, there were two men there waiting patiently for around 15 minutes for a table being totally ignored by all staff. Eventually one of them called out to a waitress if they could have a table, she told them "we\re very busy" and they walked away. The place wasn\t anywhere near full! Seriously avoid this place, it is terrible. There are dozens of Thai restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. If the smorgasbord type of thing is what you\re after, go Korean BBQ, there are also several of them nearby. This place surely must only survive on one-off Capital Theatre clientele. One visit here would ensure you will never return.
