I had heard many good things about this place but have not had a chance to go check it out. So when a handsome gentleman asked me on a date and asked if I would like to go to The Clam for dinner I jumped at the chance. First off the restaurant is beautiful and romantic without being pretentious. There is a shimmery mother of pearl looking ceiling white table cloths and dark beautiful hardwood floors. With flowers and candles sprinkled throughout the room. Perfect date night spot, or even first date spot. Then the food comes and I want to die! Everything from the mixed spring vegetables dressed with anchovy butter to the succulent white spicy clam pizza (Which I didn\t think I was going to like, but I loved it!) to the perfectly done salmon. I could not have asked for more flavor. I didn\t asked for salt or pepper or any other condiments for my meal. None were needed. If your a seafood lover, or even if your not (They have a good some good non seafood items on the menu) go check this place out. It is my new fav spot in west village for sure; maybe even all of downtown. But make sure to make a reservation because it is tiny!

First visit last night, and was told the evening\s special was soft shell crab. Having grown up near the southern end of the Chesapeake Bay, I\ve eaten softshells all my life, and I had to order them. They were superb! A light but crispy batter made it a meal to remember!

I had never heard of The Clam but a couple of people in our party had. On arrival we were greeted and seated promptly at a nice table and were able to have a view of the beautiful dining room decor, kitchen and large windows overlooking Hudson Street. We found the service orchestrated by Alex to be excellent, the menu offered a wide selection of appetizers and entrees and great seafood dishes. The timing of the meal was excellent and I thought the food prices were fair for a restaurant of this quality and location. The presentations we saw served around us and to us were all nicely prepared and attractive. We enjoyed everything we ordered but I did find the wine list much too expensive and out of line with the menu pricing. We ended up ordering 2 bottles of $80 wine which we enjoyed but I really didn\t want to spend that much. Very few choices that were priced less. A great evening and we can\t wait to go back. Great food, great ambiance, great service!!
