Been here once before a few years ago and had a less than optimal experience. Decided to give them one more try basically because the ambiance seemed very appealing. Went on a friday night around 10pm without a reservation and got a table for 2 without hassle. Everything here from the drinks to the appetizers and the entrées are pricier here compared to most Thai places in the UES. We got a couple of their signature cocktails (forbidden prince and a thai version of the martini) which were pretty good. Only the drinks came after we had already started out meal which was a little off putting. Stuck to the basics for entrées since we didn\t feel lile experimenting too much partly because of the prices. I got the pad thai which I usually avoid because it tends to be a little bland for my taste. However, the folks at Jaiya ask you how spicy you want your food and claim even their medium is quite spicy. Having been routinely underwhelmed by Thai restaurants\ rendition of spicy I asked for my food to be very spicy and Jaiya did not disappoint! I really enjoyed how the pad thai was spicy in a flavorful way and not just indiscriminate tongue numbing hotness. After inhaling the fiery noodles I decided to extinguish the flames raging through my belly with some fried ice cream! They have it in 3 flavors and I went with the Mango which was quite delicious! Staff were friendly and attentive as well which made the experience all the more pleasant.

The food was good, good enough that I\d go back again, but we probably would choose to go elsewhere... It turns out that Jaiya runs TV commercials in NYC, and someone has to pay for it so the prices are slightly higher here vs elsewhere for the same item. I usually don\t mind paying extra, but felt that they also made the serving sizes smaller in an effort to save $$$. The ambiance is UES trendy. The service was good, but it took a little longer than expected for the entrees to arrive vs the appetizers. We thought he food (quality, taste, etc) was good enough to go back for, but the serving size and $$$ will have us adventuring out to try other Thai restaurants in the area before we return here again.

Delicious food, good service and a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The portions are smaller than at the other Jaiya locations and certainly when compared to other Thai restaurants in general. I think the flavors here have been toned down a bit for our American palate which is a shame because the authentic thing is so amazing. This remains one of the better Thai options in the neighborhood though. The space is small and not really good for larger groups (6 or more) and the tables are cramped. It starts to get crowded around 7:30 so get there before. The prices are higher than similar restaurants, especially for the fish dishes, most of which are market price. Stick to the classics like Pad Thai, Seafood Fried rice, Basil chicken, beef salad and Chinese sausage salad and you\ll be good
