Being first-time visitors to New York from Australia staying in Greenwich Village, Caffe Dante was one of our favourite restaurants. First impressions truly count, and on the cold evening we arrived in New York after a long flight, Dante didn\t disappoint. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The flavours in the Vongole soup were amazing. We returned for a second visit on our last NY morning for brunch and again, everything was superb.

Visited Dante for dinner on a Thursday evening and the place was full but fitted us in when we said we would be quick and out by 7.30pm. Lively , cramped and noisy which for some people could be an issue. We saw it as have a good vibe and atmosphere. Certainly not the place you would go for a quiet romantic dinner if you have conversation on your mind. At the end on a trip around the USA and just getting used to the portion size we ordered an appertiser, and a sour dough flat bread with a side salad. This was for for two people. Which left room for desert. We had Steak Tartare first. A very strange experience. Had neither flavour or texture. Not sure what the cheff had in mind as it wasnt a classic Steak Tartare. Seemed like it had been prepared for quiet sometime. The Sour dough flat bread pizza however was an absolute gem and made up for the disappointing Steak Tatare.

I ducked in here during a rain shower and was pleasantly surprised to find it was \negroni hour\. The lavender negroni was delicious and this was a lovely spot to while away an hour
