I asked my (age) twenty-something relatives to suggest a place in the Mission neighborhood for a group of six to have lunch. The Tradesman was a good choice even if on the trendy side. It was quiet enough to talk and hear, and the food was good as was the service. I particularly recommend the beet salad and the omelettes. I hope to return sometime and try other things on the interesting menu.

Cruised the neighborhood for something new and choose this venue even though we could see on the menu posted outside that the menu was limited. Walked in to see an employee on a tall ladder in the small main dining area, climb the ladder. To find whatever item the kitchen needed. A rather odd sight and storage area for a kitchen. Seated at a lovely table in the back and taken care of by a knowledgable waiter who understood the menu and patiently answered our questions. We were somewhat interested in a burger but the only one offered was their specialty of a ribeye burger with peanut butter. Given that they don\t serve their burger in any other format I skipped this $16 specialty and ordered the grilled cheese with a side of vegetable soup for $12. The grilled cheese is served with a wonderfully solid and tasty brown bread, enhanced when the 3 artisan melted cheeses blended with the bread crust. The sandwich was served with 3 halves, however I found the ends of a couple of these halves had more seeded mustard than cheese. The sandwich would definitely benefit from more cheese and making sure the cheese covered the entire inside of the bread. The vegetable soup was served warm, not hot and was a purée that might have been a cream of leek, I couldn\t tell and didn\t bother to ask our server. It\s in your best interest to inquire prior to ordering, rather than doing what I did, that is,massive this was a soup with diced vegetables. The menu had maybe 7 or so entrees items, including the two I mentioned, along with at least two more entrees that were sausage based. Rather limited. However, the menu also included 7 or so appetizers and 2-3 deserts. We skipped desert, opting to have it elsewhere. Upon leaving we discussed our experience and decided we were glad we tried it but would not likely return because of the limited menu options. The restaurant has a large bar specializing in wine and beer flights, also available at the tables.
