The atmosphere was great and the appetizers were good but the service was a bit lacking. Had to ask several times for water and the waiter delivered our appetizers to someone else\s table. There were 4 of us and the waiter kept delivering only 3 of everything....3 plates, 3 napkins, 3 waters ( when he finally brought the water) not very attentive.

Just down town and looking for a place to hang out before dinner, my Uber driver pointed this spot out and I decided to try it out. Not bad for the space and the time.

The Library Bar at Hope and 6th in downtown LA is reliably happening - even on an unusually chilly winter Monday night, when just about every other watering hole in the area seems to have gone to bed early on that lowest of going-out evenings, The Library packs a crowd. The DJ is fantastic, the doorman friendly, and the bartenders customer focused. But something is amiss behind that bar. The drinks are inconsistent at best. For one thing, the tonic dispenser seems to have been on the blink for a while now, spewing out a tasteless flat sugary ooze. So forget about that gin&tonic. Eventually my bartender, in a display of admirable can-do customer service, arranged for someone to purchase a bottle of Canada Dry from the corner store. Too bad the management doesn\t seem to share that attitude.
