As Seattle residents we have a rotation of restaurants that we frequent. We\re constantly trying new places hoping to expand the list. Very few restaurants make the cut. LloydMartin is the first restaurant in years where we had no doubt we would become regulars. The restaurant is small and we\ve put off going there because I read somewhere that the menu changes monthly. We\re picky eaters and like to know there\ll be something we eat before we get there. But, after a long string of failed dinners at mediocre restaurants we decided it was time to check out LloydMartin. My wife asked the server if the dressing for the Caesar salad could be made without anchovy, and they agreed on a blended balsamic. As he wandered off to the kitchen he was replaced by another young lady, and I realized we had been speaking with the owner/chef! A very nice and accommodating gentleman.I had to ask if his name was Lloyd Martin, but was told, "Nope. He is Sam and the restaurant is named after his two grandfathers: LLoyd and Martin." I forget what I started with, beyond that it was excellent. For a main course I had short ribs that were sinfully good. They were accompanied by a small skillet of corn bread, half of which was stolen by my wife (Darn!). Service was good, and although the restaurant was small we did not feel jammed together. Prices were reasonable, We brought our own wine, so I can\t comment on the wine list. I\ll give it a try on the next visit. Parking in Queen Anne can be a bit of a challenge but the restaurant has quite a few street parking places in front, so you should be fine. Recommended!
