I was intrigued by the most recent tasting menu at G which consisted of seven seafood courses plus dessert. Certainly the price seemed more than fair and although they offered two levels of wine pairing I decided to bring my own bottle and was charged the same corkage as at Kapnos. The courses consisted of a carpaccio, cold and warm oysters with dressings, fish and shellfish soup, salad with squid, octopus and clams, pasta arabiata with uni and snow crab, and Chilean sea bass with faro, and a choice of desserts. Every course was great with the oysters, the fish soup and the pasta being exceptional. For the quality and consistency of the food the price was a bargain. To add to the experience the service was cordial and efficient. This was one of my most memorable dining experiences in DC in the last couple of years.

while visiting a friend who lives in the neighborhood of Mike Isabella\s restaurant "G", we happened upon the place - expecting the sandwiches (served until 5pm) we with some doubtfulness decided to stay for dinner... "why not?" - well, this turned out to be the BEST decision I possibly could have made. My friend decided on the braised lamb shoulder and I took the lasagna. I generally do not like to share plates in a restaurant, but decided to do so here. I again, have never been so happy with a decision.... The lamb was OUT of this world! served with braised kale and polenta - stunning! We then split the lasagna - that too was outstanding... Honestly - no word of a lie, every single bite I took caused me to drop my fork, cup my face in my hand and just have an almost spiritual experience! I\m sure I annoyed my dining companion, and this sure made consuming my dinner take much longer than I expected, but I could not (seriously) control myself! Kudos to a very attentive service staff, from the door to the delivering the check I never felt rushed, I was made to feel like the most valuable person they had ever had in the restaurant. I was offered a tour of the place (small but very effective use of space to maximize it\s flow). Even after the check was delivered when I had questions of the server and hostess, I was never made to feel rushed for a table turn. OH, and by the way, of course this place could (as any could) get expensive depending on how much you order or drink, but I FULLY expected that the check was going to be exactly double what it was. Amazing!! Just stunning...,. "G" made the biggest difference in my experience in my visit to Washington DC. - When considering this restaurant, think to yourself, "why not?" and do yourself the biggest favor of your life!
