We usually visit Backhaus for its wide variety of breads. However we visited it for desert with friends. The inside hall is narrow but high. It has an comfortable atmosphere to chat. Our deserts and coffees were quite nice. I recommend this restaurant to every passer by in the area.

Since I live in the neighbourhood when in town this is my favourite place to have my morning espresso. May be not the best but it comes with a nice, fresh cookie which is a big plus for me. It is almost in the middle of a park with lots of cats. In winter they have outdoor heating. Since I am a smoker it is a joy to sit outside wrapped in a shawl supplied by the company, with heaters on.The best time is in the morning in the week days. On weekend it is very crowded, with people and kids running around which is rather annoying. The waiters have to struggle with the kids and their parents. Also if you are a cat lover this is the place for you. In winter, when early in the morning they occupy the chairs under the heaters and of course in order not to disturb them you can end up in a table which may not be the one you want.
