Ginza Tenichi allegedly serves some of the best tempura in Tokyo. The Akasaka branch is located close to a busy road intersection: the decor is functional rather than atmospheric. Tempura is freshly prepared and arrives in a series of small servings, perhaps culminating in a tempura rice dish with clam miso soup and exquisite pickles. The quality is good but this is by no means the best tempura I have eaten in Japan. The prices are fairly eye-watering: the seat meals start at 9,500 yen a head.
