French brasserie style décor brimming with atmosphere. Jasper\s really is a treat from the warm service to tasty French food with a German twist to the wine menu. Our host visits Lejeune in Champagne to source his own wine at fair prices. His recommendations from the small but well formed wine list is first class too. My one regret, looking around was that we only had room for two courses, hey ho, next time. After a bottle of subtly dry Lejeune aperitif, I chose a deliciously rich venison ragout served with dumplings and chantarelle mushrooms, quite delicious. My wife enjoyed Ochsenfleish and our guests gave good marks to Coq au Cidre served with tagliatelle and Lobster ravioli. We washed this down with Chateau Paloumey, another treat from Bordeaux. Tarte Tatin and Creme Brulees completed the feast, it certainly felt like that. One note of caution, if there is a larger group elsewhere in the restaurant, order quickly. We were in no hurry so a leisurely dinner was fine! Thanks for a lovely evening.
