Lovely sitting in the sun with nice coffee and comfort food. Omelet with potatoes and salad, nicely cooked and well seasoned. Good coffee by European stands and friendly homely service. We would defiantly go back

Happened upon this small cafe when wandering. Friendly husband and wife team, the former at the counter. Both of us had wonderful quite original soups. Spinach with feta and mince. Split yellow pea with wurst. Cafe has a pretty eclectic menu of what they describe as German home cooking. The result could not be faulted in our dishes or on those of others near us. Would thoroughly recommend.

We stumbled across Cafe am Petriplatz on our way back from the DDR museum. Once inside, we were amazed by the extensive menu, and loved the (we presume) mother and daughter who ran the place - friendly, warm and very concerned that our every need was met. I tried the Currywurst, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and my wife had pork with "sour cabbage" (sauerkraut), which we both thought was exceptional. We succumbed to Apple Strudel with both whipped cream and ice cream for dessert, which was delicious and decadent. While the environs are not exceptional (my wife loved the dolls decorating the walls), this is a great example of a little spot that deserves patronage.
