Worth the trek to the odd part of Berlin for the good quality Dosa\s, served with a good range of sauces, chutneys and sambar as should be. Good masala for Dosa\s and great tasting masala chai.

Chutnify offers its dinners an authentic indian experience, right in the heart of Berlin, for better or worse. If you like indian food and are not afraid of spices and flavours you have yet to experience than Chutnify is the place for you. It offers great dishes from the south of the sub-continent bursting with tastes and aromas, that those who have been to India, will not find unfamiliar. Portion size will give you nothing to complain about and you\ll be full with just a starter and a main. Dosas are particularly generous. Nonetheless, one must keep in mind that Chutney\s faithfulness to its Indian roots extend beyond the food and onto the atmosphere. And so, food is offered on tin plates and cups. Service is slow and somehow confused (not never unfriendly) and personal space, particularly on a busy evening, is non existent. And so, if you are into \an all encompassing\ south Indian experience, don\t hesitate to book a table here.

I was a bit worried by other reviews that made mention of how tight the tables are packed into this place. And indeed they are. I had to ask two people to move backpacks just so I could move my chair enough to sit down. The coat rack above my head also meant that I had to physically move the table to make room for my head. But that was really the only trouble we had, aside from menus that looked as though they had survived a tornado recently. From reading reviews, we already knew to order everything at once since the service is slow. It seemed as though only one or two ladies were waiting tables for a packed house, so this was a good strategy. We also avoided the dosas because I read that they took a long time to come out. We started by sharing a Bombay Bhel, delicious puffed rice mixed with nuts, pomegranate seeds, peppers, etc., and a delicious sauce. It was so fantastic- a blend of different flavors and textures that built upon one another in layers that really made this dish something special. For a main, I ordered the chicken biryani, which I learned is a rice dish hailing from Iran, mixed with yogurt sauce and a green sauce and served with chicken, golden raisins, cashews, peppers, and onions. When all mixed together, the complex flavors married very well together and what I experienced was both very flavorful while not overpowering or overly spicy. My husband had a rice bowl with a coconut sauce and chicken with coriander. While he really enjoyed his, I found the flavor to be a bit flat when compared to the exuberance of my own dish. The prices were very reasonable, we thought. I read reviews contrary to this. And perhaps I would have felt the same way if I ordered a non-rice dish. We left very satisfied. With a lemonade, bottle of beer, two rice dishes and one appetizer the bill was 31€- not too bad for Prenzlauer Berg! Reservations definitely necessary and no credit cards accepted here! Come with a game plan (order everything at once) and hopefully your exp
