This very nice boutique hotel, The New Hotel Roblin, has an onsite restaurant with limited seating and a modest menu of some 4-5 starters, mains and deserts - but the quality is first class. The confit of duck we find to be superb, of generous size and beautifully cooked and served with potato and cheese. The wine list is vast and rather uniquely the list comes packaged, as you\d find from an interior decorator showing paint colours with the varieties and certain strengths of the various wines colour coordinated. The wait staff were excellent and very happy to help and advise. Our red was excellent with the duck. The Madeleine area is replete with good restaurants for informal dining but the R Café caters also for something perhaps a little more upmarket or a business affair.

We went to this restaurant specifically for the Kobe beef. The steaks we got were not Kobe or the very worst grade. Marbling zilch, just very large chunks of fat. The taste was weird too. I got an appetizer of sea bass tartar and it was good. The fish was fresh and clean tasting. My sons Caesar salad tasted like it was covered in mayo with slices of Swiss cheese, not very good. The service and atmosphere were outstanding. The staff was very professional and good but the bad steak trumps great service...ultimately it IS about the food.
