While I was waiting for my friend to finish shopping at the Monoprix, I sat on a sidewalk table at this location. I got a lovely cool white wine and an appetizer of mango and avocado. It was cool are refreshing. I got to read my book and write in my journal. The perfect way to spend time in Paris.

Cafe la Tour Du Temple is in Le Marais, a neighbourhood full of little eateries and street life. Just a couple of blocks from Place de la Republique and the Metro. There are half a dozen similar brasseries on the black facing the art school and not much in the way of quality to separate them. Have a glass of red, a steak or a burger and relax. It\s a popular hangout for the young adults who go to school nearby. Prices reflect that young clientele. If you are looking for haute cuisine, look somewhere else. If you want a drink in a great location with loads of people to watch, you have found it.

We stopped in one night looking for dinner because our rental apartment was in the same street and it soon became our local hang out! A charming manager, Jean-Marc and his team welcomed us from that first night, providing us with English menus and advising us to take advantage of Happy Hour ( every day from 18h-21h), which we did! The cocktails were delicious with a good kick of alcohol and they give you popcorn to snack on too. The food is yummy! I had the amazing cod about 3 times during the week. The burgers were a very generous size and the snack foods such as the croque monsieur were also very good. This restaurant/café-bar is a great place to go and eat or have a quick drink if you are in the République area, being about 3 minutes walk from the metro (or across the street from Temple). The terrace outside was always well-filled with locals and the staff were polite and funny. The service was great : they gave us extra mashed potato for the baby and also arranged to have our food put in boxes to take away when we couldn\t eat there cos the baby was sleeping. Go hang out there, you will feel like a local. =)
