Having a dinner at this place is as I imagine having a dinner at a classic Italian family in Italy. Everybody is doing something, they are loud an cheerful and nobody speaks English. We asked for english menu they brought a big chalkboard table as English menu with only French on it :) we weren\t sure that we were successful at ordering but at the end a young waitress arrived later and we were able to discuss what will be the dish. Meanwhile we had wine and lot of fun laughing that we have no idea what are we going to get to eat. But it was perfect, we got a steak and a fish - both well prepared, and it was really good priced. Recommended if you want good food and good atmosphere but be prepared for the funny chaos and singing waiters.

Finishing (or, at least losing) the lovely Promenade des Plantes, we bumbled around while our stomachs started to rumble. We came to a corner of rue de la Vega with YES, a café. While we were looking at the posted menu, the owner of the Don Diego Café came out and asked if we wanted lunch. When he said that he’d gotten in some St-Michel mussels, in we went. We were treated to big, steaming bowls of nicely seasoned mussels, nicely accompanied by big slices of bread to dip in the broth. The house white wine was perfect with them. The owner was extremely friendly, with excellent English. We thought we were late, but there were several tables having a leisurely finish to lunch. Many thanks to this gentleman who came out to greet us. How often do we get exactly what we want when someone tries to get us to frequent his place? And how did he know how perfect the mussels would be for us?
