Unlike many restaurants in the modest price range Mordant is a good size and pleasantly airy. The menu offers plenty of choice with a restricted subset available on the lunch offer. Our starters were fine but came across as a simple construction of prepared ingredients e.g. smoked ricotta cheese with shitake mushrooms and a main course of octopus with Jerusalem artichokes and finely diced carrots in a broth. Pork ribs with "Daddy Roger" sauce glaze and sweet potato fries was tasty in a crude monolithic sort of way. To finish a chocolate moelleux was a touch heavy. Fair choice of wines. While expectations need to be measured given the fair pricing, a touch of flair in the cooking would make all the difference.
