So you don\t want somewhere fancy but you don\t want to go to a pub - this is the perfect spot to get good food and a drink with a pumping, thumping atmosphere. As a non beer drinker I was a bit sceptical at first - I thought, I don\t know what this place will offer me as a non beer drinker however I was pleasantly surprised. So, I am sure if you enjoy beer your experience will be a whole lot different from mine. There are so many different beers to try and plenty that are actually brewed on the premises. I appreciate this would be an interesting experience for beer lovers - I just don\t drink the stuff so can\t judge. However, there were plenty of good wines to enjoy for those of us that don\t get the beer thing, but the food is way beyond pub food. It has everything from shared bites to yummy big eater sized meals - take your pick - but all at a gourmet pub food level - yummy and filling. For me, however, the best is the Biltong or beef jerky - yup dried meat - they have a huge range of super options and it is truly yummy. I spend my life trying dried meats everywhere I go - bit of a love of mine but there are more disappointments than positive experiences - you would be surprised how hard it is to find good smoked or dried meats. But what they serve at the Newstead Brewery is exemplary - fresh, tasty, not too chewy but chewy enough, dry but not too dry - if nothing else if you are a beef jerky fan this plus a freshly brewed beer has got to be winner. Very much worth a visit.
