We enjoyed a fabulous meal at Tamarind, Banyan Tree during our visit to the Laguna Area. When we arrived at the hotel we were a little confused and disappointed as the Tamarind dining area was actually close, however the same menu was on offer in the lobby restaurant called Saffron. This was not really explained until after we were seated and we thought we were in the wrong place. However, the waiter and manager quickly assured us we like still enjoy a Japanese dining experience. The Tamarind menu on offer was a little restrictive as I don\t think they had everything on offer but what we did enjoy was delicious and lived up to all expectation. The highlight was the quality and preparation of the sashimi, which was as good as I have eaten anywhere. A few more cooked options like Yakatori would have also been welcomed. Service was polite, thoughtful and attentive with all staff working well as a team. Despite other reviews, we thought the meal was excellent value for money and the food was first class. The whole experience was let down a little by the ambiance of the space which felt too much like we were sitting in the lobby of a hotel - as we were.
