Having my parents travel from Canada and not much time to spend with them I wanted their stay to be memorable and full of quality; I am so glad to have chosen MP\s Bistro for a special dinner. The Bistro (a very clean and bright space) itself is held within the Parliament house hotel; Which seems tucked away next to the picturesque surroundings of the Calton Hill. Now for the meal - Wow. The presentation was clean and elegant, not fussy or visually overpowering. I chose the the Crab and Avocado salad with Chive; Very light on the palette. My father had the Confit Duck spring rolls, Black pudding and Apple sauce with a berry jus; of which he said was also very good. We all agreed that the starters were very good. For mains my father and I opted for the Lamb shank and my mother the Cod. The Lamb was incredible, not tough and not too tender. My father also commented that he ate a Lamb shank at another highly rated restaurant recently and this experience was in a different league entirely. My mother who had the Cod; also commented that it was very good and impressed that the cream sauce was very light. Now the desserts. Only my mother and I opted for the perfect ending to our wonderful meal. The Crème brûlée was mine; All mine! Perfectly set, light and the caramel shattered the way you would expect - The chefs know what they\re doing. The drunken Crumble was my Mother\s; All hers :) Again. Loved it. Last, but certainly not least. The service was friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. Now this review may seem gushing, but if one were to look at my review history I can be quite critical of even the slightest things, I feel no need within this review to even attempt a critical thought as the whole experience was wonderful. Also, Almost forgot we were given chocolate nougats with a hint of orange to go with our Coffee - The perfect ending IMO
