Plenty of veggie and vegan options in this spacious tapas-style basement restaurant, as well as lots to keep meat eaters happy. As with most places when you don\t read Japanese it was tricky to find, but the tall orange illuminated sign and curved wall out the front are quite distinctive. We were amazed at how cheap it was, even though we had warm saké with our meal. The vegetarian croquettes were outstanding. Less keen on the yam with plum sauce, but hey, you have to try these things. Really friendly service and an English menu made it a great meal. It was lively with a good vibe. Definitely recommend it.

Trying to dine out in Kyoto in the evening without going to very touristy restaurant is actually very difficult. I happen to have found this place by chance. Food that they serve is properly prepared and tasted very good. Service was also good. I liked their Yuba Tempura and Deep fried Sushi. (Do not think it is like deep fried pizza!!) They have English menu although they do not have English speaking staff. They can cater for vegans so if you have such need, ring up and discuss. You need to have a Japanese friend to come with you though,
