The meal was very tasty and well cooked. The service was good. The only thing was that The navarin of lamb came only with mash and no veg. Maybe you had to order them separately but nobody told us.

We were staying at the hotel (excellent - see separate review) and used the restaurant twice for dinner and once for lunch. Sunday roast was very good indeed. Pheasant, on another occasion, was bland but ok. Fish and chips a disaster - don\t think I\ve ever seen so much almost-burnt batter and skin and so little fish. If you happen to be there for Sunday lunch, enjoy. Otherwise you are probably better-off at Barter Books or Lilburnes.
