Get out of Hirafu Village and get closer to real Japanese hospitality and authentic food. Torimatsu exists all year round catering to normal Japanese people. It\s not a tourist restaurant just for the ski season. (This is my 5th consecutive season in Niseko, and I also lived in Tokyo for 2 years). Food was excellent. Service was excellent. It is real Yakitori. The experience as good as any restaurant in Tokyo. Will definitely go back.

Everyone who knows and comes to this small yukaza restaurant comes due to Anthony Bordain. He sat at the very same chair at the same counter watching the masterchef do the grilling of all kinds of meats and gizzards and vegetables as he has been doing probably for the past 40 yrs. Do not rush him as he is basically feeding the entire restuarant. But it is a smoky but worthy experience. We tried almost every stick on the menu. Most of it was good, hot, smoky and yummy. Service may be a bit short-handed but you need to be patient to eat good food. But then, how fast service do you want when the main honcho is only BBQing 10 sticks at any one time. But it is a great experience, very good value for money and definitely need to book in advance as they were turning walkins all the time we were there.
