We had a very pleasant early dinner at this pub on the banks of the Avon River in Christchurch. We sat just inside, although the tables outside presented well also. Because we were early, we were able to take advantage of the happy hour and the short wait for our freshly cooked food passed happily one could say. The pub food was good and the service most friendly....has to be recommended.

Thus restaurant had the look and feel of fine dining, the service was great and the wine was priced in line with the surroundings. We arrived at 4pm and the lunch menu was still being served. While the flatbread was a lovely starter, I had Peroni beer bsttered fish. Had zero flavour and was only saved by some very nice (homemade?) tartare sauce. Chips were frozen. Real disappointment in a restaurant of this calibre. By the time we left dinner menu was on offer and I was jealous hearing the table next to us bring offered pan seared monkfish served on a potato puree. If you are going, stick to the dinner menu.

Been here a few times and so far haven\t been disappointed! I\ve got the market fish both times and they have delivered each time! My boyfriend has had the steak and pork belly which he also loved! The service has always been exceptional! Would 100% recommend for a good hearty meal! Just don\t order the vegetarian tart for entree as it was somewhat average, consisting of just about a whole pot of cream cheese! Other than that, delicious, will be returning again!!
